How did Subway become the World’s Largest Fast Food Chain?

Subway has recently surpassed Mcdonald’s in its number of global locations and has become the top fast food franchise in the world. They were able to get where they are today through a number of smart marketing decisions. They started by latching onto an individual who was losing weight from eating at Subway. This individual eventually became the “Jared”, the spokesperson for the brand and a real example of what benefits you could receive from eating Subway sandwiches. Subway, like the cool spotters in the documentary we watched, stayed on top of trends, following the healthy food trend and advertising a healthier lifestyle. This made it possible for their advertisements to appear in hospitals, where it would be the only fast food option you would see. The company used the concept of customer engagement to regulate the labor that went into the production of their desired product. To conclude, Subway has also been consistent in treating franchises well and maintaining positive relations with stakeholders, leading them to rise of other similar sandwich shops.
