Convenience: is it a Good Thing or a Bad Thing?

Soon to be expanding their headquarters to Washington D.C, Amazon has become one of the worlds most convenient and successful delivery services. With a total net worth of 146.6 billion dollars, Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, surpassed Bill Gates in being the richest man in the world in July of 2017. How did he do it you ask? Behind the convenience of the company and website itself, much of the buzz surrounding Amazon isn't solely coming from how they deliver, but what.

Starting as an online bookstore many people doubted its ability to flourish considering the number of people who read hardcopy books at the time. Regardless, Amazon managed to gain its popularity as the internet began to boom and it became less and less common to buy things that you needed in the traditional way: like getting into your car and driving to the nearest furniture store etc. Amazon soon became a threat to the competition around it after starting to sell products from different types of markets. For example: not only have they created their own delivery system but they've expanded and created their own tv company. According to CNBC news, Amazon is expected to take up almost 50% of the "e-commerce market" by the end of this year. Admired for their aggressiveness and ever-expanding company, Amazon is one that many have a will look up to when dissecting what it means to be a successful company within the business community and economically as well.
