How Synthetic Meat is Growing in the Market:

Beyond Meat, a company that has been valued at roughly 1.2 billion dollars may be the next big thing of the meat industry, but why? How could synthetic meat be booming in the stock market you ask? Well, let me tell you. The idea behind this kind of meat is that because of the stigma surrounding the maintenance that is required to process meat, people are attempting to make it more “cruelty-free.” How are they doing this you ask? With the help of technology! Scientists are figuring out ways to essentially grow meat in labs which changes and created a new kind of value to it. It goes by the “$50 Lab Burger” and it is considered to be the future of food for many different reasons. To begin with, having to raise and maintain cattle and different kinds of cows and farm animals not only costs a lot of money but takes up a lot of space as well.

The production of greenhouse gases would decrease due to the livestock as well as the methane gases! This burger could potentially be the key to sustaining the environment because if we are able to grow meat in labs then we would be able to utilize the land that we used to give up for animals to grow things like wheat and soy. In addition, all of the food that we would be giving the animals to eat we ourselves would be able to consume whether that be in America or other countries around the world who may need it more. The Bill and Linda Gates Foundation supports this cellular agriculture because they believe it’s one of the five food technologies that can bring out real food change in developing countries. To many, this burger may seem like the most ethical thing to do considering the current state of our environment but you also have to ask yourself how expensive creating burgers like these would be?
